WHAT'S GOING ON AT FALLS HUNGER????

Ray Community Meeting

12/2/2021

On Tuesday December 14th at 3:30pm in the afternoon we will be hosting a community discussion led by our Executive Director Ashley Hall. This open discussion will be at Boondocks Bar & Grill and we hope people from Kabetogama, Ericsburg, Ray and surrounding areas will attend.
The goal is for people to let us (Falls Hunger, various social service providers & medical facilities) know what the needs are in this area. There is no minimum or maximum age, no income requirements or other stipulations to attend.
We literally want to hear from EVERYONE!!!
Think about what could improve your life, services that could possibly make your life easier or services that are missing from your area. We aren't promising an immediate fix, but we can definitely start the conversation.
Following our discussion there will be a meeting amongst various organizations and services in town to discuss how we can meet the needs of the area.
We know that Koochiching County encompasses much more than just International Falls, and we want everyone to be heard and helped!

One Day Period Fundraiser

Last year Jenell Feller (Executive Director Friends Against Abuse) took the initiative to begin a fundraiser to provide feminine hygiene products to women in need in Koochiching County. The response was unbelievable and the gratitude was even more touching!
Over the past year we have had women (and men) in tears when they see these products on our shelves. We have also been able to provide incontinence products for men and women, which again has often been life changing.
If you are able to donate there are so many that would greatly appreciate it. You could very well be changing the day of a teenage girl, older adult or a mother or father at a loss of how to provide for their child.

We're so excited to be pairing up with the Minnesota Association of Family and Consumer Sciences to provide recipe boxes to 35 people in our area. Each box will have the exact ingredients to make Turkey Vegetable Chili and Meatloaf with Roasted Vegetables. These are two separate meals for your household.
Along with the ingredients you will need, there is a recipe card and you will have access to a video on how to make the meals!
A huge thank you to Lois Lewis from Indus School for putting together this initiative.
We are requiring you to sign up ahead of time and take a brief survey. Then you will be able to pickup your recipe box in the Falls Hunger/Backus Parking Lot on

Saturday February 27, 2021
11:30am-12:30pm

You will drive up between Backus and the Forestland Building, a volunteer will take your name and then a box will be placed in your vehicle.
We ONLY have 35 boxes to distribute so signup now!!!
If your plans change and you can't make it please let us know so we can add someone from the waitlist.

Check back with us often, we hope to do many more events like this in the future!
