Our mission at Falls Hunger Coalition is the bridge the hunger gap in Koochiching County one step at a time in a positive and respectful environment. As the new Executive Director this mission touches my heart and aligns with my thinking and desires in life. Helping others has been instilled in me since I was young and such a huge part of my adult life.
I feel honored and proud to be in my current position and I am so thankful for Karina and the others that have served this organization before me. I've been asked what my goals are for Falls Hunger and they are quite simple. Serve our community and broaden our offerings. The first way we (Christina and I), plan to do this is by strategically placing little pantries throughout our county. We were so fortunate to have received a grant to cover the construction costs and look forward to seeing how this project will serve our community.
We are also broadening our mini-marts to Littlefork and Big Falls. By having mini-marts in several locations throughout our county we hope food is more accessible to those in need.
And third we are hoping to find a new one story location. Covid has taught us a lot about what we could be offering and how we can improve what we currently offer. Being in the basement of a building is just not feasible for our organization anymore. Again we are so thankful to have this space but we are hoping a new location will allow us to offer more and more frequently!
We still feel like there are people going without food in our county so we need your help in spreading the word! We have yard signs we are selling for $15 that have our address and phone number on them. We will also be placing food shelf signs throughout our community. If you ever hear of someone who needs food do not ever hesitate to send them our way.
I look forward to working with you all and continuing to serve our amazing community. Do not ever hesitate to contact me directly with any questions, concerns or ideas. Thank you for your support of Falls Hunger and for helping to provide for those in need in our community.
